3 Steps to Help Keep Your Skin Smooth, Soft and Hydrated for the Spring and Summer

Here are 3 easy and basic steps to you skin routine that will keep you feeling fresh, smooth and hydrated for spring and summer.

Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize

Cleanse :

Cleansing is a vital part of the skincare regimen. Throughout the day and as we sleep, our body produces and accumulates waste. In order to purify, refresh and maintain the skin, it needs to be thoroughly cleaned. The more mature the skin, the deeper the crevices for dirt to hide. Without a great cleanser, debris builds, clogging pores, inhibiting regular collagen production, and enhancing lines and wrinkles.

Toner:

Toner is a key step in an effective skincare regime - it follows the application of the cleanser. Think of a toner as your back up to ensure all traces of dire and impurities have been removed, allowing skin t breathe and generate the proper collage, elastin and moisture needed for healthy, glowing, youthful-looking skin.

Moisturizer:

After using toner, remember to moisturize. Moisturizer protects the skin by locking in natural moisture, which is vital in the fight against the signs of aging. A good quality face moisturizer will help to hydrate all skin types. Despite popular belief, people with oily skin types should still moisturize. During the day choose a dedicated moisturizer which is usually lighter in texture and often ‘carries’ environmental protectors such as antioxidants and SPFs. Complement your day cream with a night cream to aid the restoring and renewing processes of your skin while you sleep

Additional Considerations for your skin care regime:

You may want to use a serum to help to give you additional protection against the environment and the natural aging process. Look for one that provides a strong antioxidant, hydrates, promotes healthy skin elasticity and firmness and healthy cell growth for a smooth radiant looking skin.

[New Post] DIY Mineral Bath

bath
Mineral baths are great way to get a relaxing, health-enhancing, stress dissolving soak. Warm spring therapy is a pleasant treatment for muscular skeletal problems, as well as for high blood pressure and eczema.

In addition, science has promoted that soaking in a warm mineral spring can lessen arthritis pain, and soothe discomfort associated with Fibromyalgia.

If you don’t live close to a warm mineral spring or just prefer to bathe at home mineral bath salts are easy and inexpensive to make.

A mix of Epsom and sea salt can be used with borax, baking soda, sesame oil, and essential oils to create your own personal soak. Save in a glass jar and use about 2tbsp of this mixture to dissolve in hot bath.

1 1/2 cups sea salt
1 1/2 cups sea salt
1 cup Epsom salts
1 1/2 cups borax
1 1/2 cups baking soda
1 cup sesame oil
100 drops, total, essential oils

Health Benefits of Pineapple-Why you should eat fresh pineapple

A simple Pineapple is one of those fruits that is packed with nutrients, antioxidants and vitamins. Being a member of the bromeliad family, it's extremely rare that bromeliads produce edible fruit. The pineapple is the only available edible bromeliad today and provides natural remedies to many ailments.

Did you know that it's considered a multiple fruit? One pineapple is actually made up of dozens of

individual flowerlets  that grow together to form the entire fruit. Each scale on a pineapple is evidence of a separate flower.

How to pick the best pineapple:
1.  You need to know pineapples stop ripening the minute they are picked. There is no special way of storing them will help ripen them further while the color is relatively unimportant in determining ripeness, it's the smell that determines how ripe it is.
2.  When it smells fresh, tropical and sweet, it will be a good fruit.
3.  When there more scales on the pineapple, the sweeter and juicer the taste.

Health Benefits: This is one of fruits that offer a sweet and exotic flavor, but it may also be one of the most healthful foods available today. Research shows that pineapple is valuable for easing indigestion, arthritis and or sinusitis.

  • The juice has an anthelmintic effect; it helps get rid of intestinal worms.
  • Pineapple is high in manganese, a mineral that is critical to development of strong bones and connective tissue. A cup of fresh pineapple will give you nearly 75% of the recommended daily amount.  It is particularly helpful to older adults, whose bones tend to be brittle with age.
  • Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme, is the key to pineapple's value. Proteolytic means "breaks down protein", which is why pineapple is known to be a digestive aid. It helps the body digest proteins more efficiently.
  • Bromelain is also considered an effective anti-inflammatory.  Regular ingestion of at least one half cup of fresh pineapple daily is purported to relieve painful joints common to osteoarthritis. It also produces mild pain relief.
  • In Germany, bromelain is approved as a post-injury medication because it is thought to reduce inflammation and swelling.
  • Orange juice is a popular liquid for those suffering from a cold because it is high in Vitamin C.
  • Fresh pineapple is not only high in this vitamin, but because of the Bromelain, it has the ability to reduce mucous in the throat.
  • If you have a cold with a productive cough, add pineapple to your diet.
  • It is commonly used in Europe as a post-operative measure to cut mucous after certain sinus and throat operations.
  • Those individuals who eat fresh pineapple daily report fewer sinus problems related to allergies. In and of itself, pineapple has a very low risk for allergies
  • Pineapple is also known to discourage blood clot development. This makes it a valuable dietary addition for frequent fliers and others who may be at risk for blood clots.
  • An old folk remedy for morning sickness is fresh pineapple juice. it really works! Fresh juice and some nuts first thing in the morning often make a difference.
  • It's also good for a healthier mouth. The fresh juice discourages plaque growth.
So now you have to good tid-bits to help with keeping yourself and loved ones in good health!
Oh and be on the look out for a special DIY Pinpineapple Mask that works!

The Benefits of Coffee

The caffeine in coffee has a number of benefits for your skin, from treating redness and inflammation, to reducing the appearance of under-eye circles, to getting rid of cellulite.
Say what? Yes, it’s true.
undefined
1. Reduces Inflammation
Caffeine has potent anti-inflammatory properties that make it ideal for reducing inflammation and redness in your skin.
2. Reduces Under-Eye Curfew
Dark under-eye circles can be caused by a number of factors, including dehydration, allergies, lack of sleep or genetics. Although caffeine cannot completely erase hereditary dark circles, applying caffeine under your eyes will reduce the puffiness and inflammation associated with dark circles.
3. Get Rid of Cellulite
Caffeine can also reduce the appearance of cellulite. In a 2008 study performed at the University of São Paulo, researchers found that an application of skin cream containing caffeine to cellulite reduced the size of cellulite fat cells by 17 percent. In addition, a 2007 study performed at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro found that caffeine cream applied to cellulite decreased the hip’s diameter in almost 70 percent of participants. A number of anti-cellulite creams have been developed to reduce the appearance of cellulite, or you can take advantage of the power of caffeine by adding ground or instant coffee to your regular body scrub at home.
Even more reason to love coffee now!

Okay, what's your favorite way of drinking it? Personally, I love my coffee straight and high-Tess.

The Glow or Matte Look

See How to Create Both!

Learn how to create both.
Glow like JLo or matte like Kim Kardashian?

Now you can create either look regardless of your skin tone. Using contouring for your face will give you this. Why is contouring important? Contouring your face gives the illusion of a more perfect appearance. By contouring your face, you can hide structural imperfections, give your face balance and highlight features with a Glowing Look.
What areas are common for contouring?
The most common areas to contour are cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. Contouring these areas gives the appearance of a balanced face. You can also contour eyes and lips to make them look bigger or smaller, fuller or slimmer.
One of my most favorite products in the Motives line of cosmetics is the Motives Shape and Sculpt Duo.  It is a double-sided compact with light and dark shadows that you need to highlight and contour like a pro!  It is a two in one product that glides on softly and feels like velvet to your skin.
