Anti-Cellulite Creams

I know that regardless of one's body type: Mesomorph (an athletic built, muscular,); Ectomorph  (long limb, slim boned ) and or Endomorphic (round body type, sluggish metabolism),
as the body ages anyone can experience loose and aging skin. So regardless of your size and or shape, it can be uncomfortable wearing a sexy swimsuit or little black dress especially for holidays and those special occasions. Know this, it's never to late to make some changes and never forget to take care of the one vessel we are given while here on Earth!

My years as a fitness trainer and personal experience confirms what we all know (but my not want to admit) and that is combining an exercise program, good nutritional habits, these anti-cellulite creams are a great option for smoothing and plumping the skin (while feeling better about yourself and actively doing something for yourself!)

Talk About Love & Beauty

2013 is fast approaching. New Years always reminds us all what we wish for the future as well as making changes for the better in our lives. One thing I have notices over the years is that people tend to forget to talk about the love and beautiful things they already have...ie., being thankful. So let's focus on talking about the people and things in our lives that we love and cherish. Let's talk about the beautiful things that make us feel good about being alive!! Especially, if those things and people have yet come to us~ See where I'm going with this?

When we talk about things we love, things that are beautiful to us, especially our loved ones, children, grandparents to the little things in life, like our clothes, makeup, hairstyle, shoes, to our homes and the furnishings, we are putting out more good thoughts and energy for keeping ourselves on a positive track and not allowing negative 'crap' to interfere. That includes the company we keep. If you surround yourself around others who are upbeat and positive keep it going. Don't waste the energy on gossip or negative talk about what someone did or wore or said; and if someone else in your company is talking like that just turn the conversation around into something positive.

If we do this more than 51% of the time, it will become a natural habit and you will only see positive things come into your life, including more opportunities, money, and the wealth that pure love provides.

I'd love to hear how you keep your self on the positive side of things when things don't seem very loving or beautiful. For example, do you play music or go some where special? Play with your children or spend extra time with them? Pick up your kitty or play with your dog? What do you do to turn your moment back to a positive? Hey about this one; saying "I Love You" to your special someone who hasn't heard that in a while!

Happy New Year!!!!

Simple Anti-Aging Treatment

JUST ADD WATER FOR A SUPPLE COMPLEXION !

Maintaining an optimal moisture balance is essential to youthful-looking skin.
Here are additional simple yet very effective steps to take daily:

1. Avoid harsh detergents
2. Avoid exceedingly hot showers
3. Always use a moisturizer. Formulas rich in glycerin and hyaluronic acid will plump, while formulas with ceramides or lipids help lock in hydration and minimize water loss.
4. Even in the winter months use a SPF to continue to protect the skin while outdoors. Especially if there is snow on the ground, the reflection off of the snow from the sun creates more intense rays hitting the skin.

When searching on line for a  moisturizer look for  botanical formulas. This will help to sinks into the skin, leaving it soft and resilient. And don't ignore your entire body! Skin all over the body loses its elasticity over time, especially on hands and feet. A De-Aging body balm helps to support elasticity and uniformity in our skin, while providing excellent hydration.

Puffy Eyes After The Holiday?

This article is perfect and right on point so we wanted to pass it along to you. It's from Refinery29.com
Holiday Cheer Overload? De-Puff Your Eyes With These Easy Remedies

bright-eyes-embed
Photographed by Tracy Wang
Whew. Dear readers, tell us we're not the only ones that are a little partied-out right now. Between holiday traveling, eating, drinking, and socializing we're not looking as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as we'd like (especially when facing friends and family members that we don't see very often — hello, reunion time).

When the going gets rough and the skin gets puffy, you may be tempted to shell out for the latest de-puffing cream or roller thingy in the hopes that it'll get your eye area back on track. Happily, there are a bunch of easy, simple, and natural tricks that you can do (almost!) for free, even if you're in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Read on for our primer in de-puffage — your in-laws will never know how many hot toddies you had last night.

Avoid Salt
One of the easiest ways to prevent eye puffiness is to watch the amount of salt in your diet. Avoiding fast food is an obvious one, but we've even seen a difference in our eye area when we overdo it on the soy sauce at a sushi dinner. This tip may seem obvious, but many processed and packaged foods contain a surprising amount of sodium, so read your labels and always opt for low-sodium if you can — or better yet, cook with whole foods so you can control exactly how much seasoning is in your food.
If you do end up overdoing it with the salt (or alcohol, which can also contribute to puffiness in the A.M.), make sure you glug a big glass of water before bed to flush things out.

Cucumber Slices
Even if you avoid the sodium and stay hydrated, sometimes allergies or sleep deprivation can still cause you to wake up with irritated eyes. When this happens, a great natural way to soothe your eyes is — you guessed it — cucumber slices. Hey, they're a cliché for a reason: cucumber's soothing qualities plus its high water content help put you on the fast track to a brighter visage. Simply slice up a cold cuke, lay the slices over your eyes, and relax for 10-15 minutes to reap the de-puffing benefits.

Tea Bags
If your puffiness is a little bit more severe, you could shell out for an expensive eye cream with antioxidants and caffeine added in. Or, you could just open your kitchen cabinet and use one of nature's remedies: tea! Both green and black teas have caffeine and antioxidant superpowers, but herbal teas can also be incredibly soothing. Simply steep two tea bags in hot water for a few minutes, allow them to cool, and then place one over each eye — and make sure to enjoy the aromatherapy while you're at it!

Cold Spoons
If your eyes are burning and itching due to an allergic reaction, cold spoons can constrict irritated blood vessels, reducing redness and swelling at the same time. Simply chill spoons in the refrigerator (for quick chilling, you can use the freezer, but make check the temperature of the spoons on the back of your hand to ensure they aren't too cold), and then place one over each eye, curved side down. The best part about this tip is that it requires no prep work — you can keep two spoons in the fridge so that they're ready to go anytime you need a quick pick-me-up.

Potato Slices
A lesser-known solution for puffy, irritated eyes is basic white potato. Potatoes are thought to have astringent qualities — plus, the starch in potatoes can have an anti-inflammatory effect. To reap the benefits, slice up a chilled spud (no need to peel it first) and apply slices to your eyes, swapping out with new, cold slices every 5 minutes or so. It might be a modest proposal, but it's one that works.

One other idea that Something Beautiful recommends is water! Drink plenty of water so it can help flush out the toxins and may create the puffiness.

If you have any other ideas that work for you let us know and post it so others can benefit. :)

The 411 on Must Have Brushes

Whether you are starting your career as a makeup artist or just love to apply makeup there are certain tools you need to complete a variety of makeup looks. I’ve always believed that the two things that make or break a look are your primers and your brushes.

There are so many makeup brushes out on the market these days, so how do you choose which ones you should have in your kit? I’ve broken down the types of brushes you should have and what each one is used for, so hopefully this eliminates all those useless brushes sitting in your makeup drawer and saves you some money!

The Must Have for Eye’s
There are 4 main brushes you will need to cover the basics with your eyes

1. Eye Blender Brush:
This brush is used to pack on color to the lid. It needs to be flat so you can pat on the eye shadow over your eye primer, and it needs to be stiff so it picks up plenty of color.

2. Oval Eye Blender Brush
This brush is used for creating the perfect smoky eye, for feathering in darker eye shadows, and for applying more color to the crease. This is my all-time favorite eye brush!

3. Crease Brush
This brush is just like the stiff dome brush but much softer- it creates a much softer blended look. It is used for blending shadow under the brow, applying a softer amount of color in the crease, and even for applying powder under the eyes to prevent that creasing throughout the day.

4. Angled Liner Brush
This brush is used for smudging eye shadow under the lower lash line, for smudging eyeliner, or for creating a much defined crease. The smaller tip allows for more precise lines.

The Must Have for Overall Face
There are really only a few brushes you need for the face- it really depends on what all you wear.

But here are 4 that if you need to boil it down the basic set they are....

 1. Kabuki Brush
This brush is used for stippling foundation onto the skin for a more airbrushed finish. The bristles need to be stiff in order to hold up to the foundation and not streak.

2. Powder Brush
This brush is used for applying darker powder under the cheekbones to create a contoured effect- it makes the cheekbones stand out and your face look slimmer.

3. Cheek Contour Brush
This brush is used for applying powder blush to the cheeks. It needs to be angled so the blush is easier to blend, and it needs to be soft so it doesn’t pick up too much color.

4. Flat Top Mineral Brush
This brush can be used for many things- light application of foundation, applying a small amount of blush to the cheeks, or for highlighting the top of the cheekbones. My favorite use is for highlighting as the bristles are soft and pick up little color, and it is small enough to not cover the whole face with shimmer. This isn’t an absolute necessary brush for your kit, but definitely nice to have.

What are your favorite must have brushes? Tell me, I'd love to hear!

5 Ways to Reduce Skin Redness

Winter is here and we ladies know what that means, more lip balm and dry skin. Research has shown when the air is low in moisture and winds are harsh going from indoors to out our skin can turn red which is really annoying.

Here are some remedies that will help with an even-toned, flawless face in no time.

skin-redness

5 Ways to Reduce Skin Redness
  • Use a vitamin E intensive moisturizer or chamomile lotion to sooth the skin
  • Participating in outdoor sports? Try a thicker balm on your cheeks to prevent windburn. And of course, cover up with a bandana or scarf!
  • If you find yourself getting flustered or feeling puffy from the changing of temperatures (cold in your car, warm in your office), stay away from salt and drink lots of water to stay hydrated.
  • You can also spritz your face with a calming facial mist from Ulta.
  • Use concealer with a green tint  from Dermablend, to neutralize the redness.
Any tips you want to add?

And if these ways to reduce skin redness aren’t working for you, please book an appointment with your dermatologist to rule out eczema, rosacea or skin allergies that may be causing the persistent problem.

The Benefits of Coffee

The caffeine in coffee has a number of benefits for your skin, from treating redness and inflammation, to reducing the appearance of under-eye circles, to getting rid of cellulite.
Say what? Yes, it’s true.
undefined
1. Reduces Inflammation
Caffeine has potent anti-inflammatory properties that make it ideal for reducing inflammation and redness in your skin.
2. Reduces Under-Eye Curfew
Dark under-eye circles can be caused by a number of factors, including dehydration, allergies, lack of sleep or genetics. Although caffeine cannot completely erase hereditary dark circles, applying caffeine under your eyes will reduce the puffiness and inflammation associated with dark circles.
3. Get Rid of Cellulite
Caffeine can also reduce the appearance of cellulite. In a 2008 study performed at the University of São Paulo, researchers found that an application of skin cream containing caffeine to cellulite reduced the size of cellulite fat cells by 17 percent. In addition, a 2007 study performed at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro found that caffeine cream applied to cellulite decreased the hip’s diameter in almost 70 percent of participants. A number of anti-cellulite creams have been developed to reduce the appearance of cellulite, or you can take advantage of the power of caffeine by adding ground or instant coffee to your regular body scrub at home.
Even more reason to love coffee now!

Okay, what's your favorite way of drinking it? Personally, I love my coffee straight and high-Tess.

How to Keep Eye Shadow from Creasing

It's only been an 1 hour and you check your makeup and noticed a crease right smack in the middle of your eye lid! If you didn't use an eye base  then that is probably the number one reason why!

3 Reasons why an eye base helps:
  •  Smoothes and neutralizes the eyelids
  •  Keeps eye shadow from creasing
  •  Eye shadow color stays true
  •  Eliminates the appearance of shiny eyelids

Why should I use a base before applying eye shadow? The natural oils in your skin can make shadows crease or run when they are in contact with an eye shadow. Applying a base before the shadow puts a buffer layer in between the oils and the shadow making the shadow look better and stay on longer.

Does the Color of the Eye Base Matter? No. Because the purpose of the base is to hold onto eye shadow color, the color of the base itself is less important.

If you have sensitive skin just make sure it's made with gentle ingredients.

When applying your eye base you can either use your finger or a blender brush.

What's your favorite eye base?

Whatt is Carpe deim? - seize the day and everyday! As an entrepreneur , beauty and health advisor I am blessed (like many of you ladies out there too!), to work from our home office. Thus, once you have taken care of your am routine, it's imperative to 'get ready for the day' especially if you are making calls, social media time and taking care of your family and not planning on stepping out, though who hasn't had a day where they weren't planning on going out and a call comes in where you are needed out there? Okay, so why be ready for the day with your hair perfect, make up in place and the lipstick you're wearing for the day in your purse? Because it sets the tone of how you feel about yourself and how your day will go. Make sure you skimp on nothing. From your foundation to your contouring press powder - to your eyes and blush and especially your lipstick to brighten you up!  Additionally, if you are not feeling your best, get that shower in and get ready for the day even if you're just putting on sweats. You will feel so much better and believe it or not ward off anything that may be working it's way to a cold.

Make yourself more beautiful everyday and you will find yourself feeling great & attracting more positive things in life.

Make Your Eyes POP with the Right Colors

Figuring out what eyeshadow colors to use for your eye color can sometimes be difficult and costly w/ trial & error.

We all want to find colors that make us look our best and feel more glamorous. Here is a guide to help.

Brown Eyes:
These are the easiest and most versatile to work with. Brown eyes look great with many shades. However, to really make your eyes pop try Motives Pressed Eye Shadow in some cool blue pigments such as Lust Dust or Crystal Blue. Another great option for brown eyes is Motives Pressed Eye Shadow in Pacific Sea, which is a cool green shade that helps illuminate brown eyes.
Blue Eyes:
Try a warm copper or a rich brown eye shadow. These shades are such a contrast to the blue eye that they draw attention away from the surrounding eye area and bring focus back to the eye color. Great shades to try are Motives Pressed Eye Shadow in Hot Chocolate, In the Buff, or Cinnamon Spice.
Green Eyes:
Contrast those stunning greens with any one of Motives beautiful purple eye shadows such as Motives Pressed Eye Shadow in Aphrodite, Fantasy or Breaking Dawn. Also, for green eyes use a deep purple/plum eyeliner such as Motives Gel Eyeliner in Amethyst to give your eyes that extra glow.

Let us know what your eye color is and what color combination you like.

The Glow or Matte Look

See How to Create Both!

Learn how to create both.
Glow like JLo or matte like Kim Kardashian?

Now you can create either look regardless of your skin tone. Using contouring for your face will give you this. Why is contouring important? Contouring your face gives the illusion of a more perfect appearance. By contouring your face, you can hide structural imperfections, give your face balance and highlight features with a Glowing Look.
What areas are common for contouring?
The most common areas to contour are cheeks, nose, forehead and chin. Contouring these areas gives the appearance of a balanced face. You can also contour eyes and lips to make them look bigger or smaller, fuller or slimmer.
One of my most favorite products in the Motives line of cosmetics is the Motives Shape and Sculpt Duo.  It is a double-sided compact with light and dark shadows that you need to highlight and contour like a pro!  It is a two in one product that glides on softly and feels like velvet to your skin.
